Kailua worries about park

"Kai Harder typically starts his work day hitching a rental trailer to his truck and heading to Kailua Beach Park. He works for Naish Hawaii renting equipment and instructing wind and kite surfers.
But if the Kailua Neighborhood Board gets its way, that won't be the case much longer. It wants the city to ban commercial interests in the park including water sport instructions.
Harder says this will ultimately make the water less safe.
'It would become a bigger issue because there would be nobody down here watching them,' he said. 'When people see me down here at the beach, they know they can come and ask me what's right and what's wrong.'
Under the board's recommendation, bouncer houses popular with the kids and weddings would also be banned. The snack bar and filming would be the only commercial activities allowed."
