A Blast from the snowkiting past:
Ice Kites Expedition 2002: "THE EXPEDITION
A kiting expedition from the South Pole to Patriot Hills.
TITLE SPONSOR
The title sponsor for the expedition is Nestlé Kit Kat
THE TEAM
On the ice – Brian Cunningham & Jamie Young
Buggy design & build – Kieron Bradley
DESCRIPTION
A typical sledge-hauling trek from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole takes 60 days. It is a serious endurance test, into the wind and gradually uphill all the way to the South Pole. Our plan is to “sail” specially designed ski-shod kite buggies from the South Pole back to Patriot Hills. We expect to take about two weeks and enjoy ourselves.

THE ROUTE
650 miles from the South Pole to Patriot Hills. This route is the ideal Antarctic kiting route. Skiing conditions are generally very favourable. There is no serious crevassing. The route gradually descends from 9000’ to near sea level, and the wind is consistently favourable.
